Bottle Lake Forest is a production or plantation forest, grown for supplying timber in the northeast of Christchurch. The first trees were planted in the early 1900’s.

It is a monocultural forest - Pinus radiata is laid out in rows and is now at various stages of growth, on a typically 30 year rotation of felling and logging.

I’m exploring visually the human modifications within this natural environment.

My work looks at aspects of human impact in the natural world. It raises questions about our actions being harmful or helpful in relation to the global ecological crisis.

Shot on Kodak 400 Ultramax, OM2.
