Various studies of Kaiapoi Island and Waimakariri River environs. 2022
The Waimakariri River at Kaiapoi Island has been a feature of my life since I was child as we lived ‘over the Waimak’ and had to pass over it everyday. The landscape evolves constantly here, from both natural occurrences such as flooding, and human occurrences in that gravel is removed from the riverbed, altering its path. I’m interested in how it changes shape, and how people respond to the river and use it as a source of recreation and contemplation.
